Cassandra Kiger has lived in Grand Rapids for 10 years, and graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2013 (BA-Psychology) and 2018 (Master of Social Work). Cassandra’s personal and professional background has been primarily working with the Latinx community in West Michigan and throughout the world, and she has both clinical and macro-level training and experience working with immigrant and refugee populations. Cassandra has focused her research and practice on working with majority-culture organizations to build system and policy level equity initiatives and create dialogue and brave-space opportunities for internal culture change to create a healthier, more equitable space where diverse and minority culture individuals feel safe to bring their whole selves. Additionally, Cassandra is conducting systems level research and evaluation on child sexual abuse prevention strategies, techniques and curricula to ensure that the CAC is conducting evidence-based, successful sexual abuse prevention training with youth and adults across a wide range of communities and groups. Cassandra gets excited about traveling with her spouse, dancing, hiking, reading, discussing politics, and cooking new foods.
