Capital Campaign Update
In July 2004
the Children's Advocacy Center, in conjunction with
Development Strategies, Inc., completed a pre-campaign
feasibility study. This results of this study confirmed
what the Center's staff and Board of Director's had hoped
for: that the Ottawa County community was ready to
financially support the construction of a new Children's
Advocacy Center facility.
The campaign steering committee was formed in August, and
we are thankful that the following individuals have
graciously agreed to put forth extensive time and effort
on our behalf: Michelle Anthes, Claudia Berry, Dan
Bourbon, Fred Guss, Ed and Nancy Hanenburg, Teresa Heger,
Del Komejan, Cora Visscher, and Curt Whiting.
Our official Groundbreaking Celebration took place on
November 5, 2004, and we were very thankful for the attendance
of many local dignitaries including Holland Police Chief
John Kruithoff, Ottawa County Sheriff Gary Rosema, Ottawa
County Prosecutor Ronald Frantz and special guest Senator
Wayne Kuipers. Senator Kuipers presented Executive
Director Darcy Komjean-Babcock with a beautiful, special
tribute, framed and signed by Senator Kuipers and Governor
Jennifer Granholm. It has been so exciting to see our new
"home" take shape, and we expect to be sitting in our
brand new offices by the end of April.
We would also like to recognize the support we have
received from Prins Construction and Develpment, GMB
Architects/Engineers, Driesenga and Associates, Standard
Federal Bank, West Michigan Office Interiors, and the
following subcontractors that are working very hard to
construct a beautiful new facility: Aggregate Industries,
Bauman & DeGroot, Inc., Commercial Floor Crafters, Inc.,
DeJonge Builders, Inc., Don Doktor, Eagle of Southern
Michigan, Inc., Engineering Supply Corp., Glass
Enterprise, Inc., Genzink Plumbing, Inc., Gypsum Supply
West, Inc., Kraai Construction, Inc., Letherer Truss Co.,
Pittman Asphalt Maintenance, Potts Masonry, Inc.,
Shoemaker, Inc., Shoreline Roofing and Construction, LLC,
Tulip City Asphalt Paving, Inc., West Michigan Poured
Walls, Inc., Zeeland Lumber and Supply Company, and Wood
Matic Enterprises.
