Letter from the Director
Darcy Komejan, MA

It is with tremendous pride and appreciation that I reflect on the past year. I am incredibly proud to have worked with a group of individuals committed to carrying out a capital campaign during a time in our world when we were enduring not only the aftermath of multiple national disasters but also a war and a struggling economy. The Children's Advocacy Center Capital Campaign Committee, headed by co-chairs, Ed and Nancy Hanenburg faced the enormous challenge of raising 1.1 million dollars in less than one year. Never once did I hear them question our ability to raise the dollars. They refused to consider that a possibility. They, along with the many committee members and volunteers believed that a new, state of the art, safe, child friendly facility was the least we could do for child victims of abuse. And they worked countless hours to make it a reality!

The new Center offers a large, warm waiting room with     beautiful hand painted murals and unique children's activity centers. With counseling and interview rooms for children of all ages, observation rooms wired for DVD recording, a parent support room, a forensic medical suite, work areas for the multi-disciplinary team and interns and a large conference room, our new Center is truly equipped to meet the complex needs of children and families experiencing this crisis. As the Executive Director of this new facility I am truly humbled to be a part of such an incredible project.
